Cleaning Day. October 11, 2017

Most weeks Wednesday is my dedicated clean the house day. I prefer to clean in the middle of the week because I don’t want to spend my Friday or Saturday doing it.  It usually takes me about three hours to clean our house. I try to do it while Emma is taking her naps. However, it can take me days to finish laundry. I will get it all washed and dry and it will sit in a laundry basket, and sit, and sit, until finally Andrew and I will join forces to fold it and put it all away. What can I say? Laundry is not my strong suit. Thank heaven for a husband who helps with laundry! I have to really brag on Andrew in this department! He has always taken care of his own clothes. He picks them out, he helps with laundry, and does his own ironing! I never iron clothes. I avoid it like the plague! It’s not that I can’t, I just don’t like ironing.

Today I cleaned and accomplished almost everything I needed to. The rest will have to wait till tomorrow. I didn’t complete cleaning because I started cooking. I tried the new bacon and bean soup recipe I had planned for dinner tonight. It was really good! I did all the prep work and cooking this morning, and then let it cook and simmer in the crock-pot. The smell of fried bacon is wonderful!  I also made blueberry hand pies this afternoon. We have a lot of blueberries in our freezer, and I decided to use some of them. Our kids are not big soup eaters, but they do love bacon and beans. So I was able to coax David into eating most of the beans out of his soup. Plus the desire for a blueberry pie after he finished his soup helped!

Here is what the finished product looked like!

I have choir practice on Wednesday evenings. It went well tonight. Besides our general weekly music, we have begun working on a Cantata for Christmas. Did I just say Christmas? We have to start on the music early to learn it in time, I know, but I’m definitely not in the Christmas spirit yet.

We are still fighting the colds around here, but seem to be doing better today.
