Halloween!

Halloween!

The last couple of days have been busy! Plus I haven’t completely recovered from the weekend! I still have clothes and toys that needs to be unpacked, put away, and laundry. Plus it is cleaning day! Last night when we returned from the festivities and the kids had gone to bed, Andrew and I watched a movie. (We traditionally watch the original Halloween movie on Halloween. Andrew loves scary/horror movies. I like suspenseful movies…not the ones where someone dies every few minutes.) Anyway, I was laying on the couch and it hit me. I was so tired!! I did make it through the movie, but then went straight to bed.

David had fall parties at school Monday and Tuesday. (They do it this way because some kids only go on MWF, or TTH.) I baked cookies for his class. Monday I took sugar cookies cut out as pumpkins, cats, ghosts and moons. I decorated them with colored icing. I was so behind on Monday that I didn’t finish the cookies until right before the party. Andrew rushed out the door with them before I remembered to take a picture. Tuesday I made peanut butter spider cookies. I used a peanut butter cookie recipe I like. I had a package of eyeballs left from David’s birthday party back in June, and I bought Reese’s peanut butter cups and chocolate cookie frosting to make these. They turned out really good! I took off from teaching yesterday so I could be with the kids. I went to David’s school party. They ate a lot of treats, and sang three songs for us. One was about being a leaf, one a scarecrow and the other a squirrel. It was super cute!

Last year Emma was only a couple days old on Halloween! We had just come home from the hospital the day before. Andrew had taken David to a party at my church, and I was at home with Emma. There I was at home with a three day old baby and I was passing out candy to trick or treat’rs! (It was our first Halloween in this house and community, so we had no idea what to expect.)

This year we were both able to assist in the passing out of candy! (We had a boat load of kids come to our door! We have run out of candy two years in a row now!) This is Emma’s first Halloween to dress up! She was a pumpkin! The cutest pumpkin no doubt! ๐Ÿ™‚

David wanted to be a mummy this year! He was so excited and loaded with sugar that I didn’t know if we were going to make it out the door to go trick-or-treat or not. He loved his costume though! I wrapped him in gauze! It worked pretty well. Between him running and jumping around and the rain, it lasted longer than I thought it would.ย  (It did rain some on us while we were out yesterday evening, but the kids didn’t care one bit!) By the time we were done trick-or treating, and had gone to a church party he became unraveled! Ha! ๐Ÿ™‚

The kids had a blast! Emma loved walking around in the rain last night! David was saying “Hi” to all the other kids on the street. He was so funny! He also loved seeing his teacher and friends at the church party last night. When did David get so grown up?! They were both exhausted though by the end of the night.

Take me home please! I’m ready for bed! ๐Ÿ™‚

I have to get busy now! I’m going to go make some soup! It’s a great day for soup too!
