Music!

This weekend was packed with rehearsals, recitals and cantata performances. Overall, I was very pleased with how the performances turned out. We are all feeling tired and exhausted this morning! David and Emma especially seem to be feeling tired and exhausted this morning, which means I’ve had a rough morning! We are all fighting colds, we went to bed later than usual last night, and David woke up early this morning! I’m going to contribute his rotten behavior this morning to most of these factors! (Emma is so funny! She sees David sit on his time out mat, so she wants to sit on it too! I took this photo of her going to sit on the mat right after David had just gotten off of it from doing his time.) 🙂 Hopefully we will all get rested up and things will get back in order this week. Our house is a disaster right now!  I didn’t have time to attend to things like I usually do this weekend.

Since Friday is David’s treat day, I made brownies on Friday! I have to share this delicious brownie recipe with you. I have not bought a box of brownie mix since I started making these! They are so chocolaty and fudgy! These brownies are easy to make and the best!   It is Rachel Ray’s Fudgy One Pot Brownies recipe. Here is the link to the recipe! Fudgy One-Pot-Brownie Recipe   (I always line my baking pans with foil, and then spray the foil gently with cooking spray. The brownies will come off the foil! I also always slightly under cook my brownies. I love theme to be chewy and soft!)

If you really want to make these brownies decadent, mix together a package of cream cheese, 1/2 cup of sugar, and an 8oz container of cool whip. Spread it on top of the brownies after they have completely cooled. (I also put some sprinkles on top for some color. David loves sprinkles!) They are crazy delicious!

I was fighting a fever/cold on Friday as well. That evening David, Emma and I were sitting on the couch. I told David I wasn’t feeling well. He said, “Mommy I’ll get you one of my animals to sleep with. That will make you feel better.” He brought me his stuffed stegosaurus dinosaur. I held it and thanked him for thinking of me, and wanting to help me feel better. I asked him if he would go and put it on my bed for me to sleep with. This is what I found when I went into our bedroom! It was so sweet! (That stegosaurus looks like I felt! 🙂

Thankfully I felt better on Saturday! My piano students played their recital on Saturday. I also played a couple pieces. You can listen to that recital by going to the “recital” page on my website. I will have the program uploaded there. Overall my students did very well! I was happy! After recital I did some Christmas shopping, met with Andrew and the kids for lunch, and then went to cantata rehearsal.

Yesterday, Sunday, was a great day! We had our regular church service at Wesley at 9:30. Then Wesley’s choir went to Cavanaugh UMC and we performed the Cantata there yesterday morning at 11:00. I came home after that, and we had lunch. Before church I had put on a pot roast with some carrots. We had leftover mashed potatoes and black eye peas with it. The roast was very tasty, and I’m glad I didn’t have to cook! The kids and I took our after noon naps, and Andrew had to go to a meeting. That evening I had to leave early as Wesley was having their Cantata service at 7:00. Andrew took the kids to dinner, and then they came to hear the cantata! I was happy Andrew was able to come! So often we don’t get to hear each others gigs! Both cantata services went well Sunday. The choirs sounded great overall, and the music was fun and beautiful. There was a couple of scary moments…but nothing major. I think every one had fun, and left feeling good and in the spirit of Christmas! Sorry this is late, I usually post on Sunday, but was too tired last night! Here is our menu for the week.

Monday: Lunch, Cheeseburgers. Dinner, Chicken Parmesan.

Tuesday: Lunch, Polish sausage and navy beans. Dinner, Steaks, hash browns and roasted broccoli.

Wednesday: Lunch, Pizza. Dinner, Ham, Beans and Cornbread.

Thursday: Lunch, Roast Beef Sandwiches. Dinner, Risotto, Grilled Salmon and Asparagus. 

(We are celebrating an early Christmas with Andrew’s family this coming Friday and Saturday!)

Sunday: Lunch, Chicken Enchilada Soup. Dinner, Meat loaf, Macaroni and Cheese and green beans.
