Monday I was supposed to have a rehearsal with our retired organist at church. We are going to play a Christmas Fantasy duet for organ and piano on Christmas eve. I canceled the rehearsal because I needed a day off! After the long weekend I wanted to catch up on some things. This is my last week of teaching lessons before we break for the holidays. I have started going through some music for my students for next semester. (My piano is messy again!)Ā I want my students that are playing more difficult pieces to have them over the break. We resume lessons later in January. I rescheduled the Christmas eve rehearsal for tomorrow afternoon.
Zoe has been her usual, playful, cat self. The other night she was trying to get into a pair of David’s pants that was laying across the top of the sofa. It looked so funny! I had to take a picture. š

The last couple of days Zoe has been staring out the window at these little birds that are flying around and landing in our front flower beds. She flattens her ears, and looks at them like how dare you land in our front yard! Instead of angry birds, it’s angry cat! š
David’s little Christmas tree has suffered casualties from the cat. She keeps knocking off the little ornaments. The other night she pulled the star off the top and it broke. I have super glued that little star back together, and it is functioning again. š I anxiously await the catastrophes that might happen when we get our big tree. I will definitely be putting all the valuable, breakable ornaments around the very top!
Last night David and I made snicker doodle cookies together. I love the name snicker doodle! This is one of my favorite cookies, and I always get one when we go to the mall. (I genuinely love all cookies and can’t decide on a favorite!) It was fun making them with David. This is the first time we have made snicker doodles. It was great because David was able to roll them in the cinnamon and sugar. He loves to help! We shared the cookies with David’s class today!
David watched the Wizard of Oz for the first time the other day and he loved it! This makes me happy because I love the Wizard of Oz. Now I will probably have to watch it a zillion times! š
I took a picture of Emma playing with her blocks today. She actually has started trying to put the blocks together, and not just pulling them apart. I believe David was around two or three before he started putting blocks together. David has always preferred to destroy structures instead of building them, at least until recently. š He asked for Legos for Christmas this year.
We have all been puny this week. With sinus congestion, runny noses, and coughs! I cleaned house today hoping to be rid of germs! We have plans to go to Andrew’s parents for an early Christmas gathering Friday and Saturday. I’m holding my breath, hoping we feel better so we can actually go. I still have presents to buy, wrapping to be done, goodies to make, and a Christmas tree to buy and put up. We do have plans to go get our tree on Monday! We go to a Christmas tree farm that is just a few miles from our house. It will be fun! I’ll share pictures later. š
I made cornbread and ham and beans for dinner this evening! It was a tasty, old-fashioned meal. I’ve always loved hot- out of the oven-cornbread with butter smeared all over it!
Peace!
