Monday did not go at all as planned. About two thirty in the morning David came in our room. Woke Andrew up and told him he had had an accident. Andrew went to his room and found that David had threw up all over his bed. I slept through all of this! Andrew claims he could bring a marching band through our room when I’m asleep and I wouldn’t wake up. Well, he must not be far from the truth on that one! ๐ย Andrew then came and woke me up because it was a lot of mess to deal with! We changed bed sheets, cleaned David up, put the trash can next to his bed (in hopes he might actually puke in the can), and made sure he had some pedialyte to drink. We all went back to bed. About two hours later the same thing occurred. (This time I actually woke up.) Poor David threw up all day Monday!
David had not ever had a stomach virus before, ever! Which is pretty amazing considering he is four and a half years old. The first couple times I don’t think he even realized what had happened, plus he was half asleep. The ironic thing is before he went to bed Sunday night, I read him the Curious George book about germs. It is a cute little book about how George gets sick and learns all about germs. The next morning I explained to David that he was throwing up because he had a bad germ like the one we read about in the Curious George book. Soon that germ would have to leave!
As a side note: I hate the word puke! I just don’t like the way it sounds when you say it…I’m not logical.
Emma was very tired Monday. She must have woke up during all the kerfuffle, and we didn’t realize it. She just laid around most of the day too.
She did manage to get a little play time in though. The weather was warm, it had rained, and she found the puddles on the porch entertaining!
Yesterday David was on the mend. He kept down all his food and returned to his normal self. He even built block towers again!ย
Today he went back to school. I am praying that no one else gets this virus! I am so over winter and all the sickness everywhere! Spring, please come soon!
I took Emma to her first story time at the Library today! The library has story time every Wednesday morning. Emma is admittedly a little too young still. She mostly roamed around and climbed on the chairs. ๐ย She does love books though, and we checked some out. It was pretty darn cute! Maybe she will learn to sit and listen to the story the more we go. David was always the “life of the party” when I would take him to story hour. ๐ So I don’t know what my odds are that Emma will ever sit still!:)
