My knife skills are not the best. Thank heavens for peelers! One of the things I have never been brave enough to try is peeling. My mom can peel potatoes and fruit blind folded. I am too much of a chicken! Ha! Speaking of chicken, the other thing I am not good at is breaking down a whole bird. I have the battle wounds to prove it!
I was attempting to break down a whole chicken on Monday. I ended up cutting the top of my hand open. It took the cut a while to stop bleeding, and Andrew almost made me go to urgent care for stitches. Instead I used first aid super glue and bandages. It is much better today! (I felt a lot like the mickey mouse character on my band aid! π ) Andrew finished breaking down the chicken for me. He’s such a sweet heart! I probably should have had him do it in the first place.
The whole point of cutting up that bird was so I could make homemade chicken noodle soup. Despite my deficiency at cutting up the chicken, the soup turned out really good! We had enough for dinner and I was able to put a couple bags in the freezer for a rainy day. The recipe calls for frozen egg noodles, but I bought the smaller size, dried egg noodles. I recommend using only half or two thirds of the bag of noodles, and adding more salt than what is called for in the recipe. Here is the recipe forΒ Chicken and Noodles!
Emma and I do our weekly grocery shopping almost every Monday. Grocery shopping with Emma is always an adventure. At our local store the carts are the kind where the basket part lays down evenly with the seat. Everything is in arms reach of Emma once we get past the produce section! We have had all kinds of fun at the supermarket! Once she got a hold of a container of cottage cheese and dropped it on the floor. It went everywhere! Cleanup on aisle ten please! She has bitten holes in the top of yogurt containers, cheese packages, and somehow twisted a lid off a milk carton. The grocery store employees have gotten to know us pretty well!
My sister and brother in law are coming for a visit this weekend!! I am so excited to see them!!! We haven’t been together since Christmas. I LOVE it when they come visit! I think we are just going to hang out and eat! π I am cleaning the house today and getting the extra bedroom dusted and ready! (See ya’ll soon! π )
