Bath Time! Monday, April 23, 2018

Emma loves bath time!! This last week she has started taking a bath in the big tub and not in her little pink tub. She loves it, however I need a rain poncho and goggles!!! She loves to splash the water and thinks it is so funny! I don’t really have the heart to get on to her, besides I don’t think it would do much good anyway!

Saturday was a fun day. We had a relaxing morning and then I took the kids on a play date at McDonalds where we met up with some friends. This was a special treat for all of us! For myself because I was able to have adult conversation, and for the kids because we hardly EVER go to McDonalds and they loved playing in the play place with the other kids! I have to say though, as much as McDonald’s has been given a hard time because of their food quality etc. , it has improved greatly since I was a kid. The kids meals have an option of fries, apple slices, or yogurt! The chicken sandwich that I ate was also very good! It looked and tasted like actual chicken! 🙂

After the play date we headed to Home Depot where I bought paint to refurbish our coffee and end tables! I have started painting the coffee table and am very excited about how I hope it will turn out! 🙂 I will have to share a picture when it is finished.

The kids napped later than usual Saturday afternoon because they were wore out from all the play! David then helped me make pizza for dinner. By the evening I was TIRED! The kids still needed a bath so they would look decent for Sunday church, so I put them in the tub together! I know David is probably approaching the age where he is getting to old to do this, but I thought just this once won’t hurt! It was so cute!! Definitely a photo moment! 🙂

I know when they are older they will despise me for posting these pictures! They will probably plot my demise, but that’s what parents are for. Right? 🙂

Andrew made it home late Saturday night, and we be glad to get back into a routine this week. David was “in bed” when Andrew came home Saturday night. He emerged from his room to give daddy a hug. It was so sweet!! My heart melted!

For Sunday lunch I made the best roast chicken I have ever made!!! My mouth is still watering over the taste of that chicken!! In the past I have pretty much just thrown a whole chicken in the crock pot without a whole lot of seasoning. This is great if you wish to use the chicken meat in other recipes, but not the best for eating as is. This time I roasted it in the oven while we were at church. Before church I lined my baking pan with foil. Then I seasoned the chicken with butter, salt, pepper, and lemon zest. Then I put some lemon slices inside the chicken. The recipe says to roast at 400 or 425 for about two hours, but I did it at 350 because I knew I was going to be gone for more than a couple hours and I didn’t want burnt chicken! Here is the recipe: Roast Chicken

I also made an amazing apple crisp for dessert!! There is nothing like the taste of an amazing apple crisp with vanilla ice cream melting on top! I didn’t have any frozen pie crust, and I didn’t have the time to make my own. This was a spontaneous dessert! I had several apples that needed to be used. So I peeled and sliced them. The topping was easy to make and I had all the ingredients on hand. Here is the recipe: Apple Crisp

I meant to take pictures of these recipes, but I forgot and they were devoured before I had the chance!

Here is our menu for the week! There are a couple of recipes that I didn’t try last week because I’m not always good at sticking to a plan. So maybe we will try them this week!

Monday: Lunch; Steak Fajitas (They were amazing!) Dinner; Chicken spaghetti, garlic toast, and spinach salad.

Tuesday: Lunch; Mac n Cheese with bacon and peas. Dinner; Pork Chops with pineapple fried rice.

Wednesday: Lunch; Cheeseburgers and chips. Dinner; Chorizo Sausage and veggie sheet pan supper.

Thursday: Lunch; Polish sausage and Navy beans. Dinner; BBQ Chicken thighs, mashed potatoes and broccoli.

Friday: Lunch; Chicken Bacon Ranch Panini, Dinner; Surf and turf Cajun pasta.

Saturday: Lunch; eat out. Dinner; Spaghetti and meatballs.

Sunday: Lunch; Chicken Fried Steak, Biscuits and Gravy. Dinner; Tacos.

Since this post is titled bath time, I thought it funny to tell you that after lunch today Emma was playing in a “puddle” in the living room. 🙂 Andrew says, “Where did that come from?”. I said, “Oh no! She has peed through her diaper!”. I don’t know how, but she did. So Emma had to take another bath today! 🙂
