I have said this on a blog post before, but I have to say it again. You don’t realize how important something is until you don’t have it anymore! Monday evening our air condition unit to the bottom floor of our house sounded like it was going to explode! Andrew was in a panic and I was like, “let’s just leave it running until it quits” (better to have loud air, than no air)! Andrew called a friend to come over and look at it, and he confirmed my hypothesis. However, the air unit is right outside our bedroom window and we quickly came to the realization that there was no way we were getting any sleep with all that racket!! We had to turn it off. We still didn’t get any sleep because we were too hot! Tuesday all day we managed to survive the heat of the house by turning on every fan possible. The repair man who came to fix our unit discovered that it was just a blade that needed to be replaced, but he didn’t have any extra parts. We had to wait another day. Tuesday night (after much deliberation) we decided to have a campout upstairs! (The upstairs unit still worked, thank God.) David was very excited to get to sleep upstairs. Emma was like, “what is going on around here”, but she seemed to enjoy it too! 🙂
Bedtime was a lot later than usual Tuesday night!! There was simply too much excitement and unfamiliarity to go to sleep. I stayed in the room with them until they both FINALLY went to sleep. I discovered really quick that my pregnant body was not going to get any sleep that night. I had two choices: sleep on the air mattress upstairs that I could not get comfortable on, or sleep on our usual comfy mattress and face the heat. Neither being great choices, but I chose the comfort of my mattress and the heat. (I generally can take the heat better anyway.) Andrew toughed it out upstairs with the kids! 🙂 Wednesday was another hot day, but we were all away from the house most of the day. Later Wednesday evening the repair man returned and fixed our unit!!! Praise the Lord!! We were finally able to cool the house down, and get a good nights sleep!
It is down right hot and humid here in Arkansas! I know there was a time when people did not have central heat and air, and in some places that is still the case. We are just spoiled! I am not afraid to say so either! I am so thankful for the invention of central heat and air! Life is simply better because of it!
