I am so thankful for my parents!! Besides the fact that they are wonderful parents, and everything that goes along with that, they are wonderful DIYers!!! My dad is used to fixing things around the farm, plus it’s easy to tell they have owned a home for many many years. They are so amazingly talented when it comes to fixing and refurbishing!!! They are the opposite of Andrew and myself in that respect. We have just begun the journey of being homeowners and don’t really know ANYTHING. We are learning how to be diyers, but are thankful to have someone to call, or in our case, come and do projects for us! π
This weekend my parents came and helped us do some painting and landscaping around the house. We had several bushes that needed cut back, and I wanted a couple of shrubs removed from the front flower bed. (I plan on planting some flowers come spring! π )Andrew, my dad, and the kids worked on the outside of the house while my mom and I worked on painting the inside. David and Emma were interested in helping outside. I had to peek through the windows several times while they were working to check on them, and it was so sweet!! They were really into helping Papa and Daddy clean up the limbs in the yard!
Mom and I painted an accent wall in Samuel’s room! The lighting isn’t the best and this picture doesn’t quite do it justice. The paint color is called scenic view, and it is like a turquoise/green color. It matches the bedding perfectly! I can’t wait to get the carpet laid so we can finish setting up the room! I will definitely share pictures of the finished nursery.
Mom also painted our guest bathroom cabinets for us! I bought some chalk paint, which is a new kind of paint that doesn’t require you to sand or anything! (I wish I had known about this paint when I did our coffee and end tables a while back!!!) This paint, while more expensive, is totally worth it!! I am in love with our “new” cabinets!!! I can’t stop going into the bathroom to look at them! π They don’t even look the same to me. It is really amazing! I love them so much that I can’t wait to paint the cabinets in our master bath, and eventually our kitchen!!
Fun times with Papa and Nana!
Dad and Mom went to church with us yesterday! I always love it when we are able to go to church together. The children’s choir sang yesterday morning, and they were so cute! David was really singing the words (at least the ones he remembered π ) !!
