This being our first year here at Andrew’s appointment, we are unfamiliar still with some of the events and traditions of the church. Everyone kept talking about Hullabaloo with comments like, “The kids are going to love…, It is such a great time…, Make sure you…,”.Β Hulla…what? This is what I thought anytime anyone would bring it up. I had to look up the word Hullabaloo on google. It means “a commotion, a fuss.” It turns out the annual church Hullabaloo is a giant fall festival/fund raiser! The event is named appropriately too!! There was a LOT of commotion at the church all week, between set up, the event today, and the clean up. The kids and I took part in the festivities today!! David was so excited that he could hardly stand it! π He played games over and over, and came home with all sorts of little prizes. Emma played a few games, her favorite being the ducks in the little pool game. She didn’t want the prize, she wanted the duck! The nice girl working the game let her have a duck! She was so proud of that duck all the rest of the time! I enjoyed walking around and looking at all the silent auction items, the food, and visiting with people. It really was a Hullabaloo good time!! π
David had his face painted!!
I tried to get a picture of the kids together at Hullabaloo, and this is THE best of what I took. Neither one wanted to sit for their picture! It’s actually pretty cute though! π Emma wanted a pumpkin, and David has his sack of prizes.
All of the fall festivities has me in the mood for fall! The weather was fall like today too! When we came home from Hullabaloo, David wanted to help decorate the fireplace with his pumpkin. (David and Emma both painted little pumpkins at the festival.) So I got out the fall decorations and we decorated! Earlier in the week I also bought and planted some fall Mums for the front porch. I’m not sure why, but I am in the mood for fall earlier this year than usual!
I will not be posting a menu for this week as we are heading out of town on a vacation. I am turning a whole other year older tomorrow (YIKES!!! I’m no longer putting numbers next to my Birthdays! You’re only as old as you feel!), and I’m super excited to be spending my birthday week on the beach!! I am spoiled!!! I’m also super excited, and can’t wait to share some pictures of the kids on the beach with you! I did try a new recipe this week! I hadn’t tried anything new in a couple weeks because things have been too busy for too much spontaneity! Or it could be that I’m just pregnant, old and tired. π I made Ree Drummond’s pasta alla Marlboro man!Β It is a super easy recipe, just my thing right now! The sauce in this recipe is amazingly good for the few ingredients it uses. The ground thyme is what makes it, plus don’t be shy with the salt and pepper. She doesn’t give exact measurements so I used approximately a teaspoon of each. I will definitely be putting this back on the menu!
Emma has been doing great with using the potty!!! I’m amazed at how different this time has gone versus the first. She obviously wasn’t ready then, but is now. She of course has trouble with some of the logistics, such as getting her clothes up and down. She is telling me when she needs to go, it’s just not the traditional “I need to potty mommy”. She can’t really say the word potty yet. Instead she will grab at her pants and say “Uh oh, mommy”, even though she hasn’t had an accident yet. π Oh well, the logistics will come in time. I’m super proud of her though!
My two men went to the football game this evening. I asked Andrew to send me a picture, and this is what I got. It is the best!! I LOVE these two guys!!!
