Baby Amnesia and Life With Three! January 10, 2019

It is so easy to forget from one baby to the next all the little things! For example, how much laundry one baby can mess up, how many dirty diapers you change in a day, all the feedings and the lack of sleep, trimming their tiny little finger and toe nails (by the way, nothing strikes fear in my heart like trimming a new baby’s finger nails!), and how tiny and helpless they are when newborn. All of the seemingly negative things are miraculously forgotten because of all the love and wonder that fills your heart! They are worth it a hundred times over and you will do anything for them! Even at three am when you are dead tired and wish you didn’t have to crawl out of bed!

Here are some pictures that Andrew took for us at the hospital that I didn’t get to share with you yet!

Samuel is doing well for his three week old self. πŸ™‚ He is starting to stay awake a little bit more during the day, and likes to be carried around. I can’t decide if it’s because his tummy feels better when he’s upright, or if he just likes to look around! He does seem to have more of a touchy stomach than our other two did, but as I said previously, it’s easy to forget these things.

Trying to adjust to life with three has been a little crazy, and I’m so thankful to be married to a wonderful man who can cook and who is willing to give me a little break. Andrew has been great about taking David and Emma out of the house and doing things with them. They love spending time with daddy!

Emma is starting to adjust to Samuel being around and seems to be doing a little better. Since school has started back this week we are trying to get back into our routine, and I believe this will help. Emma has entered this phase of asking the question, “Why?”! She wants to know why… This is a phase David never went through. Thank God! πŸ™‚ I have been able to spend some time with Emma outside the last couple days. She has started trying to learn how to ride her tricycle. This has been an interesting process to watch. She wants to sit on the “seat” that is below the actual seat and pushes the tricycle with her feet instead of pedaling. πŸ™‚ After some coaxing (have I mentioned that she is stubborn!?), she finally tried sitting on the actual seat and pedaling. She hasn’t quite got the hang of it yet, but it won’t be long! πŸ™‚

Recently we have had an interesting and funny conversation with David. He has brought it up a few times now. It goes something like this.

David: I’m going to marry Emma when I grow up.

Me: No. You can’t marry Emma because she is your sister. You can’t marry anyone you are related to.

David: Who will I marry then? Me: I don’t know. You will meet someone.

David: {with a rather worried look on his face} Who? (sometimes he will name someone he goes to school with. πŸ™‚ )

Me: I don’t know, but you don’t need to worry about it. You have plenty of time! Daddy and Mommy didn’t get married until we were around twenty-four years old.

I can only pray that he someday will find the right person to marry, that it’s not his sister :), and that he waits until he is at least twenty-five! πŸ™‚

Love,

PK
