Six years ago today Andrew and I had our first baby!! A beautiful little (actually he was big, weighing in at 9lbs 11oz!) boy! 🙂 We named him David after my dad, and Patrick after Andrew’s dad. He was also born on Andrew’s dad’s birthday too! Life immediately changed as we knew it, but we now cannot imagine it any other way.  Six years have passed and David is fixing to start kindergarten! David’s personality is a lot like his papas and his daddy. I’ve always told people that David may look a lot like me, but he acts like his daddy! 🙂 Our sweet little boy is rambunctious, energetic, loves life and people, and has a kind heart. He loves legos, godzilla, bugs and insects, and being outdoors.

David wanted a Lego birthday party this year. He wanted to invite all his preschool friends and family, so we did. 🙂 There was a great turnout, and David had a ton of fun! A few days before the party David and Emma went to my parents house and stayed with them until the party. This gave me a little extra time to get everything ready and cakes baked for the party. I had a lot of fun with the lego theme! I ordered the ‘colored block’ decorations and party favors online, I made the lego board that says David Is 6 on it from David’s legos, I made the chocolate covered marshmallows with lego faces, and I made the cupcakes/birthday cake! One can get a little carried away with all the creativity that comes from legos! 🙂

I made white cupcakes with buttercream frosting and chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting. The white cake recipe is the winner by far! I’m still disappointed with my chocolate cake! I don’t know why but I have not yet been able to find a recipe that I’m happy with. The search continues…. However, here is the link to the vanilla cupcakes recipe that I used. I also used the frosting recipe on this site. I used gel food colors to make the frosting into the colors that I wanted. I am not an artist when it comes to cake decoration! My little cake looks like David himself did it! LOL 🙂 Oh well, David loved the cake and his party and that made all the effort worth it!

Today we celebrated again! We took David out to lunch and then to see the new Toy Story 4 movie! Andrew’s parents came and celebrated with us! The kids LOVED the movie! It was Emma’s first time going to the movie theater, and David hadn’t been in a long time. David used to not like going to the theater because he doesn’t like the loud sound. Today he covered his ears during the previews, but was fine during the movie. We left Samuel with a sitter, so I was able to go and enjoy the movie too. We had a fun time! The theater itself was pretty awesome. It had really nice cushion recliners!! Had there not been so much excitement around me I could have taken a great nap! 😉
