In an effort to keep things honest, I must admit that I am feeling rather anxious about school starting next week. We are doing virtual school through the local school David would be attending if not for covid 19. I don’t know how it is going to go exactly, and there in lies the reason for my anxiety. I like being in control! I want to know exactly how things are going to go from A to B! (Considering the life we live one would think I would be over the whole control issue by now!) I have done my best to plan some things on my end, the trouble is not knowing what the other end has planned. I am trying to step back and go with the flow. Not stress too much about it, and just see how it plays out. While this is not technically homeschool, but schooling at home, my hope is that this will give me an idea of how it could be and confidence in taking that next step should we choose to go that route later on.
We have been preparing for school by doing some learning activities this week. Emma is learning to write her capital letters! I found this idea on pinterest. She is writing them with her finger in a tray of rice bits. It works really well, and it’s fun! We have also been writing them with chalk on the sidewalk. David has been practicing his writing in his workbook from the dollar tree! He also reads all the time!
David has been feeling some anxiety lately too about everything. It has been showing up in random tummy aches, and fears of catching the virus! He is old enough and reads well enough that we have had to stop watching the news channels with him in the room! In order to help alleviate some of this anxiety we, David and I, decided we should go on an outing together. David called it a date. 🙂 We went to a restaurant, and ate dinner together. Eating outside at the restaurant helped alleviate some anxiety about catching the virus, and David ended up eating all his Buffalo Wild Wings mac n cheese. 🙂 We then went to the book store, where David looked through all the Pokemon books, and finally chose a graphic novel book. We then went for ice cream. I can’t believe how big David is getting! My baby is seven and going into the first grade!
Just in the last week our kittens have grown! They are still tiny and cute though. 🙂 The kids love Fred and Ethel, but Emma really loves them! She plays with them, pets them, and wants to take care of them. Just look at that smile!
I also caught a picture of Emma playing “tea party” with her dolls this week. It was so sweet! They weren’t actually having tea though. They were having cake! 🙂
I managed to dress the kids up Sunday, and we took a few pictures! Look at those cutie pies! It sure is difficult getting them all to pose at the same time. David is the worst, because he doesn’t want his picture taken! 🙂
Prayers and Peace to everyone who is going back to school, one way or another, this week!
