Summer rains. June 9, 2019

Emma has been asserting her strong will lately. Never mind the terrible twos, I think she has entered the horrific threes early!!! She has been getting into trouble because she will just flat out say, “NO”, to us when we ask her to do something. The scary thing is that I see a lot of myself in her at times! The difference is that she is not shy about acting it out openly. I was always much more introverted about my actions than she is. This strong rebellious spirit is not necessarily a bad trait as long as we can teach her to be respectful and channel it in a productive way.Β  It can prove to help her succeed in the future. This is what I’m choosing to tell myself anyway. πŸ™‚

It rained most of the week here, and we had to find ways to entertain ourselves. We read a book about the Mississippi river! It seemed appropriate for a few reasons. One, we are always crossing the Mississippi when we go into Memphis. Two, water, Three, WATER! The kids did an art project after reading the book. They painted the Mississippi river with finger paints and glitter. Emma painted her water, and then went off on an artistic tangent so I don’t really know what her’s ended up looking like. πŸ™‚ David wanted to make his a swamp outlet, and drew several creatures that inhabit the swamp.

They also played outside in the rain! Nothing like jumping in some puddles!

We went to the Bass pro this weekend and went bowling! It was Emma’s first time to go bowling. David has been a few times before. We are not frequent bowlers, but we always have a great time when we do go. Despite our pitiful final scores! πŸ™‚ Emma loved it! She could barely lift the five pound ball. πŸ™‚ So cute!

LOOK AT THOSE CURLS!!! Samuel has a patch of hair on the top front that he has never lost, and it’s curly! πŸ™‚ It looks so funny and cute sometimes. I love it! Also, he has been my little practice buddy. He tolerates it a lot longer than the other two ever did. When he starts to get fussy and tired of me not paying attention to him, I will pick him up and let him sit on my lap and push the piano keys. He’s already my little piano man! πŸ™‚ I can’t believe that he will be six months old this month too! Crazy! He is getting so big already.

David and Emma found a bull frog in the yard yesterday. They played with it for a long time. I couldn’t stand to be around it, so I went inside and let them play. πŸ™‚ David is all boy when it comes to loving creatures! He is getting so big! I can’t believe he will be six years old this month! Starting kindergarten in the fall. Oh my heart!

David and Emma funnies:

We watched the movieΒ Wizard of OzΒ this week. The kids were talking about the wicked witch of the west and how she melts at the end. Emma said, “She melts just like a Popsicle” ! Bwah-ha-ha!!!:) She sure does! πŸ™‚

We were walking outside. The sun was gently shining through the clouds covering the sun. David said, “Look mom, the sun is covered up with its blanket.”

Love,

PK
